We spent an afternoon basking in the understated cuteness of Kapibara-san!
Located at the bustling intersection between high-fashion-Omotesando and pop-culture-Harajuku, the limited time Kapibara-san x Hands Cafe captures the essence of both iconic fashion districts with a new and adorable yet very stylish “Otona Kapibara-san” design concept.
Otona translates to adult, and as its name suggests, the new design motif presents the cuteness of Kapibara-san with a slightly more organic-themed touch that appeals even to grown-ups who don’t usually fancy cutesy character cafes.
▼ Even the place mat looks pretty.
Needless to say, when it comes to such themed cafes, character-related food and drinks are something to look forward to, and the Kapibara-san x Hands Cafe definitely did not disappoint. Here’s what we ordered!
▼ White-san and Friends’ Yummy Chicken Sandwich Plate (1,380 yen [US$12.45])
Tasty and juicy chicken slices are sandwiched between two slices of White-san-shaped toast. The platter comes with a side of salad, Namakemono-kun mashed potato, waffle fries, and small mug of onion soup.
▼ Kapibara-san’s Delicious Hashed Beef (1,380 yen)
How does one make hashed beef look cute? Serve it with Kapibara-san-shaped omurice. Complete with salad, mashed potato and waffle fries, this dish pleases not just the eyes, but the tastebuds and tummy as well.
▼ Kokapi’s Fluffy Thick Pancake with Apples (1,280 yen)
The baby Kapibara-shaped pancakes were absolutely adorable! To be honest, they tasted more like chiffon cake than pancakes, but yummy nonetheless! The plate also comes with two little scoops of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream and apples.
▼ The limited-time collaboration menu also has two beverages on the list.
Right: Kapibara-san’s Yuzu and Apple Cooler (700 yen)
Left: White-san’s Swooning Marshmallow Latte (700 yen)
