These days technology seems to be getting more and more closed off from the consumers that use it. Back in the day you easily could pull out a screwdriver and fix the gear on your Walkman by yourself after it chewed up your new jack swing mix-tape.
Now you wouldn’t know how to pop open an iPhone, even if you wanted to void the warranty. This is why problems like this lady’s have got me baffled. In her video titled The Case of My iPhone Gasping While Charging After a Long Time we can watch an iPhone make sounds not unlike Police Academy’s Michael Winslow when charging from 0%.
In the comments the uploader wrote; “Although it’s gasping something terrible… it hasn’t exploded…”
As we listen we can see her iPhone is not functioning and is charging from nothing. However, it seems to be emitting a sound like a young child imitating that old game, Galaga.
When I first heard it, I quickly assumed that it was a hard disk drive spinning. After a long time of inactivity perhaps it got corroded and was rubbing up against something. Then I realized the iPhone doesn’t have a hard drive.
Even more peculiar, when the owner puts her finger over the bottom right speaker it muffles the sound greatly. On the other hand putting her finger over the left speaker does nothing.
Viewers yielded little help with comments such as “Hey, hey!”; “Pew Pew Pew!”; and “Sounds erotic.” At this point I can only assume it’s a short in the left speaker, but that seems like a lazy answer based on nothing really. I have to go anyway. One of my favorite Bell Biv DeVoe songs is coming on.
Perhaps one of you kids can get off my lawn and figure it out…
