Last month, we took a look at a pair of kicks from anime fashion retailer Super Groupies and shoemaker Ubiq featuring Mega Man, the super fighting robot that’s loved by everyone (except video game publisher Capcom, it seems). But while the Mega Man shoes are actually pretty unisex in design, this month Super Groupies and Ubiq ae teaming up again with footwear that’s just for the ladies, with sailor-collared sneakers inspired by anime and manga Cardcaptor Sakura, and a dazzling necklace too for fans of the magical girl.
This is actually the second time we’ve talked about shoes based on the popular series from collaborative creative team Clamp. But while the two pairs of Capdcaptor heels unveiled in January would be just the thing for dinner at a swanky Tokyo restaurant, these canvas sneakers figure to be a bit more durable and comfortable, making them the superior choice if you’ve actually got some magical monster battling on your schedule.
Zooming in, we can see that the material is patterned with the insignia of Tomoeda Elementary, the school attended by protagonist Sakura Kinomoto.
The most interesting part of the shoes, though, comes at the back of the ankles. There you’ll find extra flaps patterned after the sailor-suit-style collar of Sakura’s school uniform.
If that’s just too girly for you, you can fold the flaps up. On the other hand, if you’re going all-in on femininity, you can swap the white laces for pink ones, since both colors are bundled with the 9,800-yen (US$82) shoes.
Moving up from your feet to your neckline, Super groupies is also offering a Cardcaptor necklace.
Modeled after the Sealing Wand Sakura wields, the 12,000-yen necklace is encrusted with Swarovski crystals, with the pendant itself made of gold-plated tin alloy.
Connected to the clasp, you’ll find the softly smiling face of Kero-chan, Sakura’s card-capturing partner and easily the cutest rendition ever of mythical hellhound Cerberus. The extra-long 60-centimeter (23.6-inch) chain is gold-plated brass, and when you don’t have it draped around your neck, the box it comes packaged in makes for a pretty place to store it.
Both items can be ordered directly from Super Groupies, here and here. Delivery of necklace orders is scheduled for late April, and the shoes should reach buyers in early July.
