If you forgot to stop by your local Hot Topic store to check out their very cute Studio Ghibli collection, go soon, because it’s all on sale now! However, keep in mind that those pieces are so last season.
If you’re more of a fashion-forward Ghibli fan, you’ll be happy to hear that a Toronto-based apparel company, Wizards of the West, will soon be releasing a line of subtle, yet stylish, Studio Ghibli-themed shirts.
The owners of Wizards of the West didn’t realize what they were getting themselves into when they decided to make a line of their 100 percent polyester shirts featuring prints of Studio Ghibli characters. Originally, they only planned on making about 100 shirts a month for what they “thought…would be a small run to a few select Ghibli fans and… a very niche audience,” but their designs went viral and they’ve had to increase production 30 fold!
For good reason too, as the designs on the shirts are colorful, well-spaced and not really overwhelming, despite the fact that each shirt is plastered with anime characters. If you were standing at a distance, you might not even notice it was more than a simple pattern.
The tees, pullovers and dress shirts are all unisex and come in a range of sizes and feature from many fan-favorite movies like:
▼ My Neighbor Totoro
▼ Princess Mononoke
▼ Spirited Away
▼ Ponyo
▼ Castle in the Sky
If you want a shirt of your own, the company is still taking discounted pre-orders until October 30. While the shirts will still be available after that, you’ll have pay the full price of US$48 for all styles.
