The dreamy Hello Kitty Show Box in Hyogo Prefecture celebrates the world’s beloved Sanrio mascot.
From the ground, it looks like a tall building in the middle of some fields. From the air, however, it morphs into a giant Hello Kitty’s face! The Hello Kitty Show Box entertainment venue opens on August 12 on Awaji Island in Hyogo Prefecture. Its premises showcase a full lineup of artwork, music, dancing, dining, and other surprises that any fan of Hello Kitty will be delighted to discover.
To begin, the Hello Kitty Dream Gallery features a visual show in which Hello Kitty fulfills her dream of becoming a pianist. Interestingly, the characters are actually 3-D holographic projections! This blend of cutting-edge technology with a famous character from the 1970s is sure to present a fresh new take on everyone’s favorite non-cat.
Meanwhile, in the Hello Kitty Dream Entertainment Show, Hello Kitty and the audience join forces to together perform a medley of songs, dances, and musical numbers. Don’t miss the special shop with limited merchandise, either.
As for the food, celebrated chef Hal Yamashita takes the lead on a diverse buffet with dishes that are healthy and environmentally conscious. He’s said to have crafted a menu which focuses on organic and vegan food and sweets. The restaurant is open in waves at different times of day, beginning with lunch, then switching to a cafe menu in the afternoon, and wrapping up with dinner in the evening.
The Hello Kitty Show Box features three performances per weekday and four per day on weekends. Ticket prices reflect the price of food, the Dream Gallery, and the Dream Entertainment Show, which total two hours for lunch/dinner performances and 1.5 hours for cafe-only performances. Adult tickets bought on the day of admission are 6,800 (US$64.40) yen for lunch/dinner and 3,500 yen for the cafe only. Child (ages 4-12) tickets bought on the day of admission are 3,400 yen for lunch/dinner and 1,750 yen for the cafe only. Tickets bought in advance add a nice discount, resulting in 5,800 yen adult admission for lunch/dinner and 2,900 yen child admission for lunch/dinner. The cafe-only price remains the same regardless of when tickets were purchased.
