In the lead-up to the release of the first Attack on Titan live-action movie, we were inundated with all sorts of fantastic collaborations. There was the tie-up with an epilation salon in Shinjuku, a campaign against illicit substances with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and even “Advancing hot dogs” at Aeon cinemas.
Since the film’s release, the giants have been quiet for a while but it seems they’ve just been gathering steam for their next amazing project: destroying public restrooms at stations on the Osaka train line.
The latest campaign is a joint collaboration between the Attack on Titan Wall Osaka exhibition, currently on show at Grand Front Osaka, and the West Japan Railway Company. The exhibition features original illustrations by Hajime Isayama, the creator of the hit manga series, and a 3-D virtual reality theatre where audience members can experience an attack from a giant, thanks to the use of special headsets.
JR West, on the other hand, is currently overhauling the old public restrooms on its loop line and replacing them with much more modern facilities. And so the unlikely collaboration was born. We’re certainly not complaining, though, because now users who enter the public restroom at five stations on the Osaka Loop line will be greeted by a character from Attack on Titan, each explaining a different feature of the upgraded facilities for users.

Twitter user @Bobfamily_ogtb visited all five of the participating stations and tweeted photos of the campaign posters for fans around the nation.

If you’re out and about in Osaka and really have to go, now you know where!
