With delicious flavours like these, it really is the season to be jolly.
When it comes to Starbucks releases in Japan, customers are never bored, with a steady stream of new Frappuccino flavours featured on the menu throughout the year. Now, hot on the heels of their Halloween Mystery Frappuccino, which was just released this week, comes news of their next highly anticipated offering, which celebrates the upcoming holiday season.
There are two new drinks coming our way from 1 November: The Raspberry White Mocha and the Raspberry White Chocolate Frappuccino. Both new beverages feature a red-and-white colour theme that pays homage to the traditional colours of Santa Claus, conjuring up images of a traditional Christmas.
The Raspberry White Mocha is an espresso-based drink that combines the sweetness of whipped cream and white chocolate with the tartness of raspberry sauce, which is mixed throughout the base of the drink. On top is a serving of smooth couverture white chocolate sauce with crunchy pieces of raspberry-flavoured meringue.
The Raspberry White Chocolate Frappuccino is a cream-based Frappuccino, containing swirls of raspberry sauce and the same topping as the White Mocha, with tiny flakes of white chocolate pieces designed to resemble white snow.
Along with the two new drinks, last year’s popular Christmas drink, the Hot Gingerbread Latte, will also be making a reappearance on the menu from 1 November. This mix of espresso and steamed milk will be topped with whipped cream and nutmeg, giving us all the irresistible spicy flavours of the holiday season.
In addition to the drinks, Starbucks will also be releasing their special Christmas Blend coffee, along with a limited-edition lineup of accessories and drinkware, including teddy bears, mugs, tumblers and water bottles, all featuring beautiful holiday themes.
The Raspberry White Chocolate Frappuccino is set to retail for 580 yen (US$5.10 – tall size only), while the Raspberry White Mocha will be available in all sizes, from Short to Venti, ranging in price from 440-580 yen. Both drinks will be on sale from 1 November to 17 December. The Hot Gingerbread Latte is priced from 420-540 yen, and will be available from 1 November until Christmas Day.
