Four macaron flavours, imported directly from France, now come packaged in cute McDonald’s takeout boxes.
Everywhere you go in Japan, you’ll come across exclusive limited-edition sweets. While some are timed to coincide with holidays like Halloween or seasonal events like the blossoming of the sakura trees, others, like these new treats from McDonald’s, come out of nowhere, making them even more of a sweet surprise.
Available at McCafé by Barista outlets around the country, the new macarons have been imported directly from France and come in four flavours. The bright yellow Citron Macaron contains a sharp blend of tart lemon cream, while the Raspberry Macaron contains a fragrant and bittersweet raspberry cream.
The Vanilla Macaron contains a rich and luxurious vanilla cream while the Chocolate Macaron is filled with decadent cocoa flavour.
Adding to the appeal of the adorable limited-edition sweets is the cute packaging they come in. The “Takeout Box Set” contains three macarons of your choice and is only available in limited quantities. 450 yen
Available at McCafé by Barista outlets around Japan from 13 December, each flavour retails for 150 yen (US$1.32), with takeout boxes retailing for 450 yen.
There are only a limited number of macarons available so if you’d like to find out what a McDonald’s macaron tastes like, you’d better get in quick to get your hands on one!
