When the girls grew up and took their first sex-education class, they were shocked to learn that birth wasn’t quite so simple…

Most girls growing up during the 80s and 90s in the States only wanted two things: the newest Barbie and the shiniest lip gloss. While make-believe scenes of Barbie sneaking out to kiss Ken happened at home, adolescent girls themselves never left the house without their favorite lip gloss. Parents could say no to lipstick and eyeliner, but lip gloss was OK. And what’s not too like about it? It smells so tasty and makes you want to lick your lips…again and again and again. Between Barbie and lip gloss, only one thing could have been better, edible lip gloss.
Lucky for us all, there is a candy store in Japan which specializes in palatable lip wear. And they’re teaming up with Mattel to celebrate Barbie’s 55th birthday with a few new products that combine the allure of Barbie with the fun of edible lip gloss.

Are you a Barbie girl in a Barbie world? If your answer is yes, you’ve probably been dreaming of this day your whole life. Finally, you can look like your Barbie doll!
We’re not talking about getting thousands of dollars worth of cosmetic surgery to look like Real Barbie or wearing Barbie heads in your shoes. But we are talking about wearing undergarments that match those of your Barbie doll. You’ll be like twins!
The Japanese lingerie and apparel shopping website Peach John, has a lingerie line called Yummy Mart. Yummy Mart is teaming up with Barbie and LAFORET, a lingerie shop in Harajuku, to bring you a limited edition collection of Barbies and underwear to match!
For the parents of the world who refuse to let their children play with gender non-confirming toys, Jian Yang from Singapore should serve as a warning to what may happen if you don’t let kids be kids. The 30-something professional wasn’t allowed to have a doll growing up, but started collecting them when he got older and is now the proud owner of roughly 9,000 dolls.
While he hasn’t gone as far as some doll enthusiasts to sate their obsession, he has spent at least US$350,000 in the last 20 years on his ever-growing collection. Click below to see pictures of Yang’s enormous stash and to learn more about what drives this self-described “toy nerd” to buy this many dolls!
Here comes a new challenger: Will Brazilian “human Ken doll” ascend to the doll people throne?

A Brazilian cosmetic surgery addict admits that he has spent around US$150,000 chasing the dream of looking like a Ken doll come to life.
Rodrigo Alves, who recently acknowledged that he suffers from body dysmorphia and is seeking therapy, says he’s undergone around 20 separate surgeries to achieve his goal. Just some of the operations included: arm fillers and pectoral implants, ab implants, calf reshaping, numerous nose jobs, botox injections and several rounds of liposuction. Presumably he also paid good money on eye surgery to get that perfect Ken doll “soulless gaze.”
